Born in Perth, Australia in 1943, Kerry Hill graduated from the Perth Institute of Technology and the University of Western Australia in 1968. Worked at Howlett & Bailey in Perth from 1969 to 1971.

From 1972 to 1974, he worked for Bali and Hong Kong architects and engineers Palmer & Turner in Hong Kong. From 1974 to 1978, he went to the Palmer & Turner Jakarta office. Kerry Hill founded Kerry Hill Architects in Singapore in 1979. In 1995, a second firm was established in Fremantle, Australia.
