哥伦比亚大学北京建筑中心发起的X-Agenda系列微展活动，旨在推进和反思当下年轻一代中国建筑师、设计师的实践。
作为X-Agenda微展系列的第二站，直向介入将主要呈现直向建筑近几年来正在进行或已经完成的8个项目，并展出与此相关的建筑模型、图纸及影像等。

直向建筑介绍
Gong Dong received Bachelor & Master of Architecture from Tsinghua University, followed by a diploma at Illinois University where he received the Master of Architecture. He was also an exchange student at Technical University of Munich during his study in America. Gong Dong received several awards during his stay in America, including excellence award from Steedman Fellowship international architectural design competition in 2000, first prize from American Institute of Architects Chicago Chapter’s student design competition in 2001 and excellence award from Malama Learning Centre international architecture design competition in 2002. Prior to establishing his practice he worked for Soloman Cordwell Buenz & Associates in Chicago, then at Richard Meier & Partners and Steven Holl Architects in New York. In these seven years of practices he accumulated experiences throughout conceptual design, schematic planning, construction detailing and on-site management.
Chien-Ho Hsu received his Master of Architecture from Harvard University. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and a registered architect in New York State. He is also qualified as an LEED accredited professional.
During his stay in New York Chien-Ho Hsu worked at the practices of Eisenman Architets, Gwathmey Siegel & Associates, Pei Cobb Freed & Partners and Thomas Phifer and Partners. Throughout the twelve years of practices in America he was involved in numerous projects, including IMF headquarter in Washington DC, OECD headquarter in Paris and United States Courthouse in Salt Lake City. His works covered architecture as well as urban design and interior design, driven by inclusive design and management ability and experiences.
In 2010 Chien-Ho Hsu joined Vector Architects as a partner.

Project: zhangjiawo Elementary School，Xiqing District
我们希望在这个小学设计中着眼于对于“教”与“学” 这种生活方式对于空间的需求，尝试提供学生和老师，学生和学生之间充分而富有层次的交流的机会和场所， 在我们看来，这是当前国内的教育建筑的模式化设计中所缺失的要点。
小学的规模为48班，主要功能包括普通教室、专业功能教室、食堂、风雨操场、办公室、室外活动场地。设计起始于对交流空间的行为和空间模式的研究和分析。
为了寻求最合理的空间功能布局，我们在过程中进行了一系列手工模型研究。最终我们将一个共享的交流”平台”设置在二层，它象三明治一样被一层和三四层的普通教室夹在中间，最大程度上带来该空间使用的易达性和必达性。
而各个年级交叉，教学形式相对自由，师生和学生之间交流互动最为频繁的专业功能教室则成为这个交流“平台”的功能载体。这个整个建筑活力最强，能量最集中的空间通过一个中庭在顶部获取自然光和加强自然通风，同时它延伸出室外，和位于其南侧的一层绿色屋顶平台相通，成为连接建筑各部分和教学楼前后景观的一个中心枢纽。
由于功能的特殊性而带来的立面材料和开间节奏的特殊性，构成该建筑鲜明的室外视觉特征。我们在设计中倡导运用一系列的绿色环保措施，主要包括地源热泵、绿色屋顶、可渗透景观、自然通风和采光最大化等等。
Our goal is to establish a unique place within the school that encourages interaction between the students and teachers through their daily learning and teaching life. The basic program consists of 48 classrooms, a number of special program classrooms, cafeteria, training gymnasium, administration areas and an outdoor exercise field.
The design process starts with an analytical research of the spatial pattern of interactive activities, both in plan and in section. A series of physical study model were built along the process, in order to seek the most reasonable spatial and programmatic layout. Eventually the best location of the primary interactive space is discovered to be on the 2nd floor, sandwiched by regular classroom floors, and connected to the skylight through the central atrium, where natural ventilation were maximized. The space is defined by the surrounding special program classrooms, and extends itself to a green roof deck at the south side, which is also the pivot point of the site arrangement. The deck connects to the main school entrance, the outdoor fields, and different parts of the building at different heights by stairs, ramps and bridges. Such a "Platform", consisting of indoor space and outdoor deck, not only generates and amplifies energy of interactions, also adds visual characters to the exterior building appearance because of the application of distinctive materials and space modules.
A series of green technologies are proposed in this project, such as geothermal system, storm water management, green roof, permeable landscape, passive ventilation, maximized natural daylight, recycled material and etc.
项目：昆山有机农场系列—采摘亭
Eco-Farm Series-Harvest Pavilion ，Kunshan，China
2010夏天，我们受业主之邀,在昆山的一处有机农场里设计一组小型公共建筑，包括会所、采摘亭、植物展房和入口信息凉亭，目的是为未来在这里活动的人群提供休憩和餐饮的空间。2012年初，采摘亭成为这组系列建筑中第一座建成的房子。
设计关键词：水平，轻，透明
项目场地位于昆山西郊巴城县境内，紧邻阳澄湖，现状是一片空旷的有机农田。 天、云、风、水、 土地、树木，这些单纯的自然元素构造出鲜明的场地特征。而我们的课题是建筑应该以什么样的姿态介入到这片自然环境之中，与其相谐调，并最终塑造出一个新的，专属于这片土地的，有意义的空间场所。
水平
区别于我们身处的楼宇密布的现代城市景象，昆山有机农场平坦开阔，天空和阳澄湖水相交而成的地平线在视野尽头绵延展开 -“水平”是农场给我们留下的强烈的第一印象，也是我们这组系列建筑中每一个单体希望回应的主题。
采摘亭横向舒展的建筑形态呼应着场地的水平性，这种关系被漂浮的金属挑檐进一步强化，挑檐下方的区域成为建筑和自然景观之间的过渡空间，使建筑和自然的边界不再生硬。在建筑内部，向远方水平延伸的挑檐将自然视野吸纳到建筑的空间中来。
轻和透明
“轻和透明”不是单纯的形式语言上的偏好，而是建筑应对这一片自然时所采取的策略。漂浮的水平银色金属格栅挑檐，为下方的空间制造不断变化着的光影，又在不同的时间微妙地映射着天空的颜色。
竖向竹木格栅和玻璃墙面的组合，让建筑的垂直界面像一层薄纱一样半透明，农场的景物和远方的天际线在其后方若隐若现。
在天气宜人时，由玻璃旋转门组成的两道建筑外墙可以全部打开，此时建筑的内部空间将会最大程度地融入到农场的自然气息之中。建筑空间地坪和周遭自然地面相切，仿佛是建筑和大地最轻微的触碰。
整体建筑形态和空间所呈现的安静，轻与纤细，通透和灵动，与我们理解中的江南地域文化气质特征相吻合。
Design Key Words: Horizontality, Lightness, Transparency,
Sited in an Eco-farm alongside the Yang Cheng Lake, Kunshan, the project consists of 4 small scale public buildings: a club house, a harvest pavilion, a botanical showroom, and an information center. In the spring of 2012, the harvest pavilion became the first one being completed.
The farm is vast, flat, and wide open to sky. Different from the congested vertical massing image of urban life, such an empty flatness of the site is an essential nature that we believe the architecture should respond to. Our design task is to explore how the architecture should be integrated into such a context, to create a new and unique place, however harmonize with nature.
The harvest pavilion appears a simple, light, and translucent cuboid, with a horizontal thin plane hovering at the top, flying parallel with the horizon in the distance. The plane, made of pre-fabricated aluminum rods, cantilevers out at 4 sides at various depths. The space below becomes a transition zone from the interior to exterior, and promotes the potential activities because of the pleasant shadow casted by the canopy. The building façade system consists of vertical laminated bamboo louvers, floor-to-ceiling frameless glass panels, and pivoting glass doors. The transparency and lightness of such a material combination visually fuse the building volume with its surrounding landscape, and make the architecture sensitive to light. Under the condition of nice weather, when the pivoting glass doors are all rotated to open, the indoor space is literally stretched out into the farmland.
