There has been a lot of talk about the way the office landscape is shifting to encourage more creative development and discussion amongst workers. From the consideration of ergonomics, multi-purpose furniture, moveable wall dividers to positive color palettes to enhance your team’s performance, there is no doubt that the traditional cubicle is slowly becoming a thing of the past.
Image maker Benoit Challand reflects on these changes being made with his “fold yard” concept. The French creative spells out an open office space with individual workstations that are each conceived to look like a letter of the alphabet. From the ground, they appear much like any other cubicle unit, with low-sitting walls and built-in shelving, however from above, their shapes are distinct, making it possible to arrange them in various ways to form words.
The project takes something that is typically rendered in two-dimensions, typography, and projects it in three-dimensions as furniture design; while also speaking to the way in which space can be organized in more unconventional ways.
