This building forms the main junction in a new town and park concept planned in 1999 in the centre of Hadsten. It consists of four parts: a multipurpose hall, a library, an activity and service wing, and a stairway with adjoining cafe. These elements can be combined in various ways, forming a highly versatile complex. A central organizing space is rendered more dynamic here by the stair and ramp structure which links the two floors and provides seating. The hall itself can be opened to the stair through large folding doors, to create a double-height space. The hall can also be opened to the exterior, forming an area for markets and outdoor concerts in summer. A large door in the hall‘s facade, made of semi-transparent fibreglass, allows equipment and large objects to be moved into the building. The stairway, with its integrated ramp, can also be used as a theatre, as well as accommodating a bar, playroom, internet cafe and exhibition space. The hall is floored with ash, which is also used on the stairs and continues into the library. The library is a partially protruding box hung by steel cables and supported on exposed concrete beams. The roof is planted with moss and grass.
