Three citrus-hued pavilions make up the kindergarten extension of the 'bartomeu ordines primary school' in consell. designed by local firm ripolltizon, the building sits on the fringe of urban fabric and brushes the countryside on an east-west axis. most remarkable is the enveloping presence of nearby orange groves which greatly informed the architectonic palette. the architecture uses vibrant color to create playful paths of circulation in the building while also seamlessly weaving indoor and outdoor spaces. six classrooms are arranged in clusters so as to aid in the formation of these walkways and keep areas of activity easily accessible to outside recreation areas. a glazed facade oriented east opens the cluster to a private courtyard. strategically positioned windows utilize the morning sun for natural lighting and provide an access between the new and the existing building, especially the large, shared dining area. a vegetable garden completes the open-air spaces, while a planar roof articulates the form through folded shadows and borrowed color.
