The swedish rural housing design and build company arvesund has commissioned architect daniel franzen of local practice bunker hill to design a set of barnhouses to fit with their design guidelines stating that the structures should be elements that add to a landscape. the extruded archetypal house typology - or commonly known as the classic barn - features a metal sheet roof and natural wood cladding. in line with franzen's reputation,pine is used in both interior and exterior, left a natural hue for the inside and painted with a weather-resistant coat for the outside. the customizable shelters can be ordered to a range of lengths and vary in the number and type of openings. in the specific 'sl?tter?sen' model is punctured with unevenly placed windows and large central glass doors that open completely to the exterior. external sliding timber panels close the various openings for security purposes, since the barns are meant for either regular use or can be left for extended periods of time without the worry of burglary.the interiors are a long continuous space that allows reasonable flexibility in the organization of program, equipped with a loft level with full-standing height for extra bedrooms or storage.
