'Kloof 151' is a private residence nestled into the verdant hills overlooking the clifton beaches in cape town, south africa. designed by local firm, SAOTA, the home is tectonically-rich system of dematerialized planes and expertly composed voids and masses. the upper level double height space opens up to a landing that invites in the expansive ocean horizon and carved coast.
To the south, the study and meeting are separated from the main open plan living area, which extends outdoors with terraces to the north and west. cantilevered balconies and hardwood screens provide shade, tempering the exterior space for year-round occupancy. an in-ground swimming pool hovers over the northern corner and in effect, appears to flow into the ocean.
