The telescopic 'scope' house on the makinohara plateau in shizuoka is conceived as two exposed natural concrete bases and a transverse white volume like a lens that focuses views out over the tea plantations and neighboring houses in the gently sloping hills. located on a landslide prevention area, japanese firm mA-style was restricted to using only a fraction of the site, which led to a stacked typology of trapezoidal monumental plinths supporting the cantilevering space that projects towards the northern landscape and creates an interior environment attune to the subtle seasonal and climatic changes. the kitchen is placed at the forefront of the panoramic window, where a spiral stairs leads to the living area shaded by the overhead mass.
