The 'mty house' by mexican practice bgp arquitectura finds itself nestled in a steep mountainside amongst a thick sea of trees with protruding rock fragments and very stringent environmental protection regulations. by dividing the house into individual cubes that follow the natural contours of the 10,000 square-meter plot of land, the residence does not touch a single existing tree. each orthogonal structure is architectonically independent of the other, containing different parts of the program connected by a series of glass corridors that create an interior/exterior promenade through the site.various materials are used to further express the autonomy of the volumes, clad in either wood panels, corten steel, exposed concrete, or travertine marble. a series of courtyards provide private exterior spaces for each construct and places for pause and admiration of the impressive landscape throughout the sequence of progression.
