The publication of general urban design is often far away from the public, especially for an ordinary county, which is always quietly launched and then disappeared. Xingan is an ordinary and unknown county with long history, however the old town texture has largely disappeared.
How to make full use of existing resources to effectively improve the city style and quality? How to arouse local consciousness to arouse cognition and love for their hometown? L&M Design Lab and CAUPD-Shanghai-Branch design picture book to guide the residences to understand and cherish their hometown.
The whole picture book is carried out in the form of simple dialogues between Xiao Xin and her grandpa with bright colors.
We avoid technical terms far away from residences such as green corridors and green belts. For example, we explain pocket park with from a small but accessible perspective, with the transformation of vegetable fields on the north side of Horseshoe-step Community.

The general urban design of Xingan County has fully considered the implementation process in preparation stage through a series of practical action plans to improve city quality. This picture book design as public version is a small start of our action plans. We hope that more and more urban planning and urban design results will reach the public in the future for them to together build a better and happier hometown.
