Housed by a moorish-influenced building situated within copenhagen's famed tivoli gardens,the second oldest amusement park in the world. the luxury accommodation is forged by a rich history and opulent surrounding scenery making it a regular haunt for the stars - michael jackson is rumoured to have wanted to buy the hotel in the nineties, and scarlett johanssen, whose father is danish,often uses the hotel as a base when she visits her family. the boutique establishment's vernacular is deeply rooted in the narrative of the family's past.
The nimb family came to tivoli in 1877 to lease the local 'divan 2' restaurant, which wilhelm and louise nimb transformed into a chic gathering place attracting copenhagen's elite. the nimb daughters continued this service-minded, conscientious approach when they took over management of the present building, which had originally been constructed as a bazaar, a combination of events informing the establishment's current,palatial operation and aesthetic.
The noble, detailed design of the 1909 building - originally by danish architect knud arne-petersen - brings to mind a whitewashed iteration of mughal architecture, accents of wealth and grandeur are articulated by the exotic, unabashed glitz of the facade, a quality that shifts with ease to the hotel's interior. in 2006, milan based practice matteo thun and partners has been responsible for the first interior design concept,which over the recent years has been revised and charming local signature pieces have been infused by the art direction of the hotel.
As the only hotel that opens onto the tivoli gardens, the 13 suites spare no lack of detail, all rooms are characterized by the elegant confluence of modern and antique features. the rooms feature four-poster beds and an eclectic mix of rich, natural materials infused throughout the space,wooden and leather detailing informing the multi-faceted ambience.
The nimb hotel complex is comprised of a bar, brasserie, wine cellar, a dairy which supplies the hotel’s milk, cream and butter and of course,and the one michelin star 'restaurant herman' that overlooks the tivoli gardens. the brasserie continues the distinctive affluent vernacular - not only through the design but also through the presentation and selection of food. the cuisine's symphony of color, flavor and fresh produce permeate the ebony tones of  locally sourced, bespoke danish designs and overall aesthetic of the environment.
The dynamic dimension of the nimb namesake continues also through to complex's meeting and conference area, an eclectic fusion of warm-toned classical elements are complemented by delicate floral wall detailing and contemporary finishes. the hotel also maintains a cultural dialogue with the world in a meaningful way through initiatives such as the nimb magazine, which covers contemporary fashion, design and architecture - giving further credence to the rich dynamism of the enterprise.
