Green House is located within a green stretch of land in the middle of Oslo. The neighboring buildings are characterized by older brick constructions in distinctive colors such as goldenrod, red, beige and green. The idea is to give the green back to the city, both in a symbolic and physical sense. The "living green" will be on the roof garden, on the ground and on the wallfacing the neighboring courtyard to the northwest. The other three facades, toward the streetand the park, are "symbolic green”. They are made of recycled aluminum and glass with ceramic print pattern that will provide the illusion of looking through the leaves in a tree canopy. The art also helps to solve the functional and technical requirement, like railings on the balconies andnoise reduction.
By completing an unfinished block of buildings, Green House is high quality densification that gives something back to the city in the form of a well-thought out placement of the structure anda beautiful and innovative facade. The fa?ade on ground level at the corner facing D?lenenggataa small space has been set for commercial premises, with the aim stimulating activity at street level.
Green House consists of 21 apartments, ranging in size from 29 to 82 m2, with a common roofgarden. The view from the roof garden is extending all the way through to the Oslo Fjord. Next to the common areas there are 10 private plots of land. These plots have a wide range of potentialuses: sunbathing, planting blackcurrant bushes, pitching tents or playing mini croquet, to namea few.
