Architecture and vision: The overall idea was to create a small, but exceptional building that will contribute and respond to the area context by repeating the existing ridge roof skyline. By repeating and twisting this skyline concept, we challenge the general public’s perception of the Copenhagen skyline. It’s a minor urban statement, that contributes to the on-going discussion on the city and its context.
About: The building works well either as a single tenant facility with the ground floor designed for Reception and Conference Center or alternately, as a multi-tenant building with a shared lobby by the main stair. A spacious dining facility is located in the adjacent building. The focus for the design at Halfdansgade has been to create a flexible and inspiring environment.
Materials: The elevation towards Halfdansgade is cladded with a cobber based material called “Tombak”. The facade continues up and over the building mass to create a distinct multiple faceted roof shape. The south facing curtain wall system, features integrated sunscreen and a highly sun reflective insulated glass. The glass wall facing north is more open and allows for the pleasant northern light to fill the offices. All four floors has floor to ceiling glass.
