由伦敦惠特克工作室（whitaker studio）设计的约书亚（Joshua）树住宅坐落在巨大的加利福尼亚山腰之上，占地90英亩（约546亩）。客户在为住宅选择基地的时候，突然想起以前由设计师詹姆斯•惠特克斯（James Whitaker）设计的一个项目，但它并没有建造起来。这个200平方米的住宅由几个运输集装箱组合，最终形成星型放射状形态。

Situated on a 90-acre plot, the joshua tree residence visualized by london-based whitaker studio sits atop the vast californian mountainside. While visiting their empty plot of land in joshua tree, the clients came across a project previously envisioned by lead designer james whitaker that was never realized. This 200sqm residence conglomerates several shipping containers, forming its starburst-shaped exoskeleton.







每个集装箱的方向都朝向不同的景观方向，从而居住者在内部能够拥有最大化的景观视野，并且建筑师还根据个人的不同情况来设计建造，从而让建筑具有隐私性。惠特克工作室设计的住所内设有卧室、厨房和宽敞的起居室等三个房间，每个房间都能看到不同的约书亚树。此外，车库屋顶上的太阳能电池板为建筑提供太阳能源。

Every container is orientated to maximize views across the landscape or to use the topography to provide privacy, depending on their individual use. Whitaker studio’s residence features three ensuite bedrooms, a kitchen and a spacious living room, each displaying a different aspect of joshua tree. additionally, a car garage roofed in solar panels provides power for the house.
