Standing in the heart of Futian District, the Huanggang Port Tower covers 170,000 sq m, featuring five underground levels and 50 above-ground floors. In joint venture with Shenzhen CAPOL International & Associates and Shenzhen Integrated Transportation Design Research Institute Co., Ltd, Aedas has created a mixed-use complex that draws inspiration from flowing water and stacking stones.
Derived from the surrounding landscape and regional characteristics, the design is based on the imagery of flowing water and stacking stones. A simple fluid architectural form is adopted which signifies flowing water, while aluminum panels serve as vertical trellis on the façade, creating a striking visual spectacle in the vibrant Huanggang area.
The façade has adopted round corners formed by four arcs, optimising the landscape view and creating a vibrant architectural form to greet the city.
The concept extends downwards and create smooth and vibrant vertical lines from top to bottom, showcasing the magnificent cascading water scenery. The splashing idea is interpreted as a distinctive podium and entrance canopy. The 7m-tall cantilevered podium welcomes the public into the tower with a friendly and inviting gesture, seamlessly integrating them into the interior.
A unique arrival experience is delivered through a 13m- tall light-filled lobby, with an atmosphere of openness and vitality. The design incorporates warm-tone marbles as main materials to signify the stacking stones, offering a humane and integrated complex.
The vertical circulation follows the principles of ‘efficient operation and convenient travel’. The arrangement of entrances fully weaves the relationship with the city. The first-floor lobby can be accessed from the east, south, and west directions. The main pedestrian entrance is situated on the south side of the tower, facing the central green axis and Metro Line 7, ensuring seamless connection with public transportation. The interiors is in progress and the façade is in construction.
