How to design a good compact multi-plane mixed-use — Aedas unveils concept for the mixed-use development next to Chongqing Grand Theatre

近日国内报道了位于重庆核心区的全新综合体设计方案。该项目毗邻重庆大剧院和重庆科技馆重点地块。Aedas在总体规划上拥有丰富经验，并在综合体开发设计领域享有盛誉，公布了其为这一全新休闲娱乐目的地所打造的概念性设计，并分享如何创造优秀的高密度多首层综合体建筑。

Recently a report in PRC announced a new mixed-use development on a key plot at the heart of Chongqing, sitting right next to the Chongqing Grand Theatre and Chongqing Science and Technology Museum. Aedas, as an experienced master planner and a renowned expert in mixed-use development in China, unveils its concept for this new leisure and entertainment destination and shares its ideas on designing a good compact multi-plane architecture.

设计围绕“山水江城”进行，以山为基、水为心、江为环、城为魂。这些自然元素被充分融入至高低错落的建筑群中，创造出多层且多孔隙的景观层次，为休闲娱乐和其他各类活动提供了丰富的公共空间。丰富的内庭空间更为重庆大剧院大量集中的客流提供有效的缓冲空间。

The design plays around ‘water, mountain and city’ - mountain as the foundation, water as the heart, river as the loop and city as the soul. These natural elements well integrate into the stacked complex, creating multiple and porous landscaped planes with abundant public space for leisure and activities. The spacious chamber can serve as a buffer and share the huge pressure of visitor flows of Chongqing Grand Theatre.

“我们利用地形高差形成的丰富空间来提供一系列零售、餐饮、休闲和娱乐活动，为大众提供丰富的演出前后的消费体验场所”，Aedas全球董事、本项目的设计师温子先如是说。

以文化娱乐板块带动整个综合发展项目，并通过多首层的建筑群为大众打造独特而丰富的体验。连续起伏的屋面吸收了重庆当地传统建筑的设计语言，又同大剧院的折面形体相呼应，在江北嘴发展轴线的关键位置形成一系列既统一又富于变化的娱乐休闲建筑组团。

“灵活的多首层建筑组团既独立又相连 ，使重庆大剧院和城市无缝连接。我们的设计呼应大剧院的建筑外形，减弱了其较大体量与周边环境的突兀对比，成为大剧院与城市的粘合剂，”温子先说道。

“We utilise the height difference of the architecture to provide a wide range of retail, food-and-beverage, leisure and entertainment offerings. We create a diversified urban space and an experience destination of all kinds for people to enjoy before and after the shows,” explained Andy Wen, Global Board Director at Aedas and the design director of this project.
The cultural and entertainment components act as a catalyst to energise the whole development and deliver a unique and diversified experience throughout the multi-plane complex. The irregular rooftops, inspired by the local traditional architecture, echo with the folding form of Chongqing Grand Theatre and complete the series of leisure and entertainment destinations along the Jiangbeizui Development Axis in a unified and dynamic overtone.
“The stacked architecture with multiple layers is a complete and independent community that seamlessly connects Chongqing Grand Theatre and the city. Our design responds to the Grand Theatre, helping to reduce its massing and strong contrast to the context. The two architectures are unified in a harmonious manner,” said Andy.

这一开发计划包含了地处江北嘴发展轴线关键位置的三个地块。地块间经由地上天桥以及地下通道相连，成为了城市整体的一部分，且紧邻重庆大剧院、重庆科技馆、中央公园和国际金融中心等重要地标。毗邻地铁和轮渡的优越交通条件将为其带来丰富客流。

The development consists of 3 plots sitting on the key Jiangbeizui Development Axis in the central district of Chongqing. Overpass and underground systems link up the plots with the city. The site is well connected with the adjacent Chongqing Grand Theatre, Chongqing Science and Technology Museum, Central Park, Chongqing IFC and other important landmarks. It offers excellent transportation assess with close proximity to the metro and ferry terminals to attract large circulation.
