BIG / Bjarke Ingels Group
BIG / Bjarke Ingels Group has revealed proposals to realize their first project in Los Angeles, California. The mixed-use scheme is posed to be a sizeable mixed-use development for the city’s rapidly growing arts district and be based along the Los Angeles river. The first images of the development displays a concrete grid structure reminiscent of a ziggurat form that encloses a recessed glass volume, allowing green terraces and bays to be formed on top of the large floor level below. These structures will accommodate office space, two hotels and residential apartments, as well as an array of commercial opportunities.
At the highest point, the structures will be approximately 30-storeys and be developed by Vella group. The realisation of BIG’s arts district proposal will help enliven the warehouse neighborhood along the river to create an area of cosmopolitan urbanism.
