Bjarke Ingels Group has reached the 22nd storey of its first project in the United States, a 32 storey sloped residential tower in New York City that will eventually be home to 750 people. The building is shown in recent photos from Field Condition draped in orange meshing as it nears the final stages of structural construction.

The building, which was approved in 2013 after a hotly contested debate over affordable housing provision, will feature stunning views of the Hudson River at a reasonable price: developers have agreed to a 35-year contract to control rent for low-income occupants.

The photos from Field Condition show the building’s courtyard and balconies beginning to take shape on the notoriously narrow property. The gentle trademark curve of the structure has revealed itself and will soon be covered in cladding to complete BIG’s ambitious design, along with the slim windows and angular balconies displayed in the renderings.

Bjarke Ingels has also taken to Instagram to celebrate the building’s construction, posting photos of its milestones. W57 is set for completion in Spring 2015 and will top off in the coming months.
